Baked Apples w/ Brown Sugar & Raisins

Serves: 6 | Difficulty Level: 1 (of 5) | Prep Time: 10 Minutes | Ready In: Less Than 1 Hour

Another fall “classic.”
INGREDIENTS:apples

  •  6 large baking apples
  • 3/4 cups of brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon of butter

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash and core the apples, then remove a 1 inch strip of peel around the middle of each apple.
  • Place in a 2-quart shallow baking dish.
  • Combine brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl.
  • Fill the center of each apple with the mixture and dot with 1/2 a teaspoon of butter each.
  • Add just enough water to the baking dish to cover the bottom of the dish.
  • Bake, uncovered at 350° for about 30 minutes or until the apples are tender.
  • Baste with juices occasionally.

I would serve the apples warm and with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream.

Enjoy,

Chef Phil
